Dr. Adeeb Al Afifi

Since its establishment in 2008, Dr. Adeeb Al Afifi has been the Director-Foreign Trade & ‎Export Support at the Department of Economic Development-Abu Dhabi (DED). During this ‎period, he has supervised the development of the Emirate’s export support services to assist ‎companies develop their export capabilities.‎

Currently, Dr. Adeeb is supervising the implementation of the Emirate’s export ‎agency strategy. This will expand the ability of the government to provide export ‎development support to Abu Dhabi operating companies. Dr. Adeeb is a member of the Abu ‎Dhabi Free Trade Agreements Committee working on issues affecting Abu Dhabi’s ‎international trade.‎

Since 1999, Dr. Adeeb has been with the DED or its predecessor—Department of Planning. ‎During his service to the Emirate, he has worked in economic research and international ‎business. Prior to joining the DED, he was involved with the development of the Abu Dhabi ‎‎2000-2020 Strategic Plan with the United Nations Development Programme.‎

Dr. Adeeb has earned a BA in Economics from UAE University; a post-graduate diploma in ‎Sustainable Livelihoods for Local Development from Bradford University, UK; a MSC in ‎Economic Policy for Developing and Transitional Economies from Bradford University, UK; ‎and his Ph.D. in International Political Economy from Queens University, Ireland.‎
